Lawson M. Pinder

Lawson was born and raised in Freeport, Bahamas. He grew up, on a mango farm right next to the ocean. As a child, he watched a lot of TV. His mother asked him what he wanted to be when he grew up, he remembered telling her that he wanted to be an Actor or a Dancer, or To be on TV!

Lawson graduated from The Edna Manley College of The Visual and Performing Arts, School of Dance, Jamaica in 2004, with a Certificate in Studio Dance Technique. While at Edna Manley he studied, The Martha Graham Dance Technique, and La
Técnica Cubana (Cuban Modern Dance Technique). Both techniques are very well infused in all the works that he produces.

Upon completion Lawson was offered a position to work with an International Dance Company, based in Jamaica Called L’Acadco - A United Caribbean Dance Force. While in the company he studied under the tutelage of Dr. L‘Antoinette Osun Ide Stines. Lawson studied this modern Technique that Dr. Stines developed called L’Antech, which is a fusion of the rich influences of the Caribbean folklore! He studied L’Antech for 5 Years obtaining an “Certificate in Cultural Studies, and in the L’Antech Dance Language. In L’Acadco Lawson traveled Internationally, and performed on many stages!

Dance Theatre Xaymaca, was the first dance company that he performed with as a guest in Jamaica. He also performed with CoDanCo, as a founding Company Member, and Performed with The National Dance Theatre Company of Jamaica (NDTC)as a guest, before moving on to L'Acadco. Lawson performed with Various Artiste on stage, in Music Videos, and in commercials throughout Jamaica, like Etana, Beres Hammond, and Lucino, to name a few.

“Passing on all the information that I’ve learnt during my studies and travels, is also the greatest feeling that one can achieve. I taught At St. George’s College for Boys (High School), also at a few other institutions like the University of The West Indies, Dance Society, The Modern Dance Center, The American International School of Kingston, Jamaica, The Bahamas Dance Theatre, The Musical Peacock and a few Community groups.

The Bahamas will always be my home so teaching and dancing there will always be a wonderful experience, But in the main time i will follow my dream to be an Actor/ Dancer or world Performer. I’ll Impart all my knowledge of The Caribbean to as much of this worlds hatchlings as I can, about Caribbean Dance and it’s Culture.”

Dance While You can I will not stand to the side and allow the music in my heart to fade away and die. I will dance to my own life song!!”
